Evaluating the Role of Anesthesia on Intraoperative Blood Loss and Visibility during Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A Meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Previous studies and meta analyses have led to incongruent incomplete results respectively when total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) inhalational (IA) are compared in endoscopic sinus surgeries regards intraoperative bleeding visibility. Objective To perform a more comprehensive meta-analysis on randomized controlled trial (RCTs) comparing TIVA with IA surgery evaluate their effects Methods A systematic review of for chronic rhinosinusitis was completed May 2020. Utilizing databases, articles were systematically screened analysis 19 met our inclusion criteria. The primary outcome included visibility scores combining Boezaart, Wormald Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Secondary outcomes rate blood loss (mL/kg/min), estimated (mL), scores, VAS, heart rate, mean arterial pressure (MAP). Results RCTs 1,010 patients analyzed. had significantly lower score indicating better (Boezaart, Wormald) than (−0.514, p = 0.020). higher average by 0.563 mL/kg/min (p 0.016). Estimated (−0.853 mL, 0.002). There no significant differences between the (−0.225, 0.63) MAP values (−0.126, 0.634). subgroup revealed difference remifentanil not utilized whenever desflurane agent. Conclusion seemed superior during IA. However, consistent stratifying based use different inhaled anesthetics. Therefore, conclusion cannot be made that one approach is other.

15 صفحه اولEvaluation of Topical Tranexamic Acid on Intraoperative Bleeding in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Tranexamic acid (TA) is an antifibrinolytic agent which reduces bleeding following certain surgical procedures. The present study was performed on 56 patients, scheduled for elective endoscopic sinus surgery under general anesthesia, to examine the effects of topical TA on providing a bloodless surgical field and evaluate the bleeding volume. The study comprised 26 patients who received topical...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effect of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery on Laryngeal Mucosa Stroboscopic Features
Introduction: The major presenting symptom of nasal polyps is nasal obstruction. The role of nasal obstruction in the genesis of laryngeal disorders is still unknown. Materials and Methods: The aim of this study was to evaluate laryngeal videostroboscopic changes after functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) in patients with nasal polyposis. A longitudinal study was carried out from M...
متن کاملThe Effect of Topical Tranexamic Acid on Bleeding Reduction during Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Introduction:Bleeding is a common concern during functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) that can increase the risk of damage to adjacent vital elements by reducing the surgeon’s field of view. This study aimed to explore the efficacy of topical tranexamic acid in reducing intraoperative bleeding. Materials and Methods:This double-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted in 60 patients...
متن کاملDoes total intravenous anesthesia provide significant blood loss reduction compared to inhalational anesthesia during endoscopic sinus surgery?
BACKGROUND Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is defined as induction and maintenance of general anesthesia using solely intravenous agents, which usually includes propofol and a short-acting opiate (e.g., fentanyl or remifentanil). Traditional inhalational anesthesia (IA) is maintenance of general anesthesia using inhalation agents (e.g., isoflurane or sevoflurane). Several studies have tried...
